Man Accused Of Taking Men's Room Photos In Beverly Avoids Jail

A judge "reluctantly" sentenced Leonard Muise, 37, of Gloucester to 18 months probation as part of a plea deal.

BEVERLY, MA -- A Gloucester man avoided jail time by pleading guilty to a charge of surreptitiously photographing a person in the nude. Leonard Muise, 37, had been facing up to 2 1/2 years in jail after being accused of secretly photographing coworkers in the men's room at the Beverly insurance company where he worked. Instead, he will serve 18 months probation.

According to the Salem News, which first reported this story, Salem District Court Judge Randy Chapman believed Muise should have served some jail time but "somewhat reluctantly" agreed to a prosecutors request for probation as part of a plea bargain. Electric Insurance in the Cumming Center had called Beverly Police in December 2017 after an employee discovered a camera hidden in the men's room.
