Beverly Will Have Retail Pot Shops This Year: Mayor

The city has already received six applications from companies wanting to open Beverly's first retail marijuana dispensaries.

BEVERLY, MA — Mayor Mike Cahill told the Salem News he expects Beverly's first retail marijuana dispensaries to be open by the end of the year. The city has already received six applications, including five for locations on Rantoul and Park Streets. Only one of those locations can be license under local zoning rules that prohibit shops from locating within 2,000 feet of each other. Cahill has the ultimate authority as the signer of host agreements the city works out with the businesses.

"They're definitely coming," Cahill told the newspaper, even though Beverly does not have a definitive time table for granting the licenses. The city will license a maximum of four retail marijuana dispensaries.
