Meet The Three Finalists For Beverly School Superintendent

A committee narrowed a field of 36 applicants down to three women, who will meet with the school committee next week.

BEVERLY, MA -- A 13-member subcommittee appointed by the Beverly School Committee narrowed a field of 36 applicants down to three finalists as the district looks for its next superintendent. The three women chosen as finalists will meet with the school committee next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The district's current superintendent, Dr. Steven Hiersche, is retiring at the end of the school year.

Assistant Beverly Superintendent Suzanne M. Charochak was named as one of the finalists. Before taking her current position in 2014, she was principal at Ayers Ryal Side Elementary School. She has also worked as a special education teacher in the district.

Mary Kate Carbone is a Beverly resident and has been the Salem Public Schools Assistant Superintendent since 2012. Before that, she was the chief academic officer for Triton Regional School District.

The third finalists is Meredith Nadeau, the superintendent for the Newmarket, NH School District. Nadeau announced in November she would be leaving her current position at the end of the current school year after three years, even though she has yet to line up another job. Before taking her current position in 2016, Nadeau was the superintendent in Cape Elizabeth, ME.

In May 2017 the New Hampshire Attorney General ruled the Newmarket School District had violated state election law by placing electioneering information regarding a vote of a bond issue to renovate a school on the district's Website.
