Beverly, MA -- On July 27-28, 2013, classic cars will be arriving at Misselwood Estate, Endicott College, 407 Hale Street, Beverly from across the United States for the annual Misselwood Concours d’Elegance. Lauded as one of the most scenic concours events on the East Coast, the general public will be able to enjoy a wide array of activities from historic estate tours to fashion shows and musical entertainment, while admiring spectacular automobiles and motorcycles in an oceanfront setting. General admission tickets are $10 for adults and children under 12 are free.
With an opportunity to see rare and unique cars up close, the Misselwood Concours d’Elegance has emerged as the must-attend event of the summer. “We are excited to offer additional features this year such as a Tour d’Elegance, a VIP lounge and an expanded oceanfront beach field to enhance the overall feeling of the concours”, says Patrick Cornelissen, Founder of the event. “In addition, we have further developed our partnerships with local organizations and businesses such as the Lyon-Waugh auto Group, Cabot Money Management, Nottingham Wealth Management, Salem Five and Northshore Magazine”.
While Lorraine Roy at Bella Serra Bridal, in collaboration with J-Mode and Paula’s Hair Salon and Day Spa, will be hosting a spectacular summer fashion show, the fancy hat competition will return once again. “Last year’s fancy hat competition was such a tremendous success that we had to bring it back and make it part of the Misselwood Concours tradition”, notes Cornelissen. “It really ties the overall culture of the concours show together and allows for a fun and exciting day out for the entire family”.

The Wenham Museum is providing an added historical perspective with antique hats to complement the elegance of vintage cars and fancy hat competition. The museum’s display will feature summer hats – straw cartwheels to keep the sun away, flowery models to celebrate the season and a duster coat and motoring hood worn to protect one’s clothing from the dust of unpaved roads. “What we wore tells much about who we were.” said Linzee Jerrett, Wenham Museum’s Costume Curator. The museum’s costume and textile collection contains over 10,000 pieces from ball gowns to bikinis, parasols to purses dating from the late 18th century through the 20th.
On Saturday July 27th, car owners will participate in a Tour d’Elegance, following the Essex Coastal Scenic Byway, which ends with a display of cars at the Misselwood Estate between 12pm and 2pm.

On Sunday July 28th, gates open up for the general public at 10am and for VIP ticket holders at 9am, with an array of activities planned throughout the day.
Funds raised from this event, through ticket sales and sponsorships, will go directly towards Endicott scholarships benefitting current and future students by providing financial opportunities and allowing them to continue their higher educational dreams, as more than 80% of Endicott students receive financial aid.
As part of an effort to raise money for Endicott student scholarships, the Misselwood Concours d’Elegance has partnered with various local companies and organizations. “The show, which attracts thousands of spectators, is equally about showcasing the region”, explains Patrick Cornelissen, Director of Operations and founder of the event.
Spectators can expect some very rare models to make their way to the Misselwood Estate this year and be wowed on numerous occasions. “And if cars are not your thing”, says Cornelissen, “Just stop by to enjoy the breathtaking ocean vistas while listening to Jazz.”
