Modell's Closes Beverly Store

BEVERLY, MA -- Modell's Sporting Goods closed its location in the North Beverly Plaza. Saturday was the last day the store was open for business. A skeleton crew of employees have been working this week to clear the space of its contents and break down displays.

Modell's has been closing under-performing stores as their leases expire in recent years. Last year it closed its stores in Saugus, Brockton and West Springfield. Like many niche brick-and-mortar retailers, Modell's has been pressured by online retailers.
