Montserrat College's Improbably Places Poetry Tour

Next Stop: Essex Shipbuilding Museum

Montserrat College of Art’s Improbable Places Poetry Tour makes its next stop at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum, 66 Main St, Essex, MA on May 10th. Doors will open at 6:30 and the reading begins at 7 PM.

The tour was created in 2010 by Colleen Michaels, the Writing Studio Director at Montserrat College of Art. It was formed to bring together student writers, local poets, businesses in the area and enthusiastic listeners to celebrate the power of poetry. The tour has visited unusual places such as swimming pools, tattoo parlors, farms, and even a power plant. Its last event was held at Modern Millie’s dress shop in Salem, MA.

This month’s tour at the Essex Shipbuilding museum will featrurd poems and readings based on a nautical theme. Poems will range from boats to mermaids and the tour is open to the public. There will even be an on-site boat launch, so guest can float in their kayaks while enjoying the poetry. For questions, contact Colleen Michaels at 978-921-4242 x 1279 or colleen.michaels@montserrat.edu
