More Detours Coming To Beverly Starting This Weekend
Detours will take place near the Balch/McKay and Cabot/Dodge intersections.

BEVERLY, MA — More detours are coming to Beverly as residents and visitors attempt to navigate the city this summer.
The work is being conducted as part of a $6.3 million project for intersection improvements and related work along this section of Cabot Street.
The first detour is set for the intersection of Balch Street and McKay Street. Lane closures and the detour will begin Sunday at 8 p.m. and last through 6 a.m. on Monday.

The state Department of Transportation said the closures are needed to allow road crews to safely and effectively install surface pavement at the intersection.
Balch Street will stay open during construction while traffic on McKay Street will be temporarily redirected.

Traffic heading southbound on McKay Street will be detoured left onto Jenness Street, then right onto New Balch Street, left onto Balch Street, right onto to Cabot Street, right onto Beckford Street, right onto Route 62 (Elliot Street) and then right back onto McKay Street.
Traffic heading northbound on McKay Street will be detoured right onto Balch Street, then left onto New Balch Street, then left onto Jenness Street and then back onto McKay Street.
On Monday and Tuesday night, there will be overnight lane closures in both directions and a detour at the intersection of Cabot Street and Dodge Street.
Those disruptions will be in place from 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. on both days.
Northbound travel on Dodge Street will not be permitted while paving is taking place.
Traffic heading northbound on Cabot Street towards Dodge Street will be detoured further onto Cabot Street then onto Conant Street to get back to Dodge Street/ Route 128.
Traffic heading northbound on McKay Street will be detoured onto Balch Street then onto Cabot Street.
Traffic heading southbound on Dodge Street will be detoured onto County Way then onto McKay Street and onto Balch Street to get back onto Cabot Street.
Traffic heading southbound on Cabot Street will be detoured onto Tremont Street then onto Ellsworth Street and onto McKay Street then Balch Street to get back to Cabot Street.
Traffic coming via Longmeadow Road will be redirected down Sonning Road.
Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
