
Beverly, MA -- September 9, 2013 --"Team Murphy" officially launched the second phase of its campaign this weekend, taking to the streets and events of Beverly to spread the word about Attorney Todd C. Murphy, candidate for City Councilor At-Large.On Saturday, a team of volunteers held signs in support of Murphy at major intersections in North Beverly and Gloucester Crossing. More volunteers walked the streets of Ward 2 distributing "Murphy for City Council" magnets featuring the Beverly High School football schedule. Another group from "Team Murphy" handed out magnets to fans attending the BHS football game at Hurd Stadium, while others attended the Beverly Mothers Club family kick-off and Harbor Fest on behalf of Murphy."We are working diligently to ensure that every citizen of Beverly has a chance to learn about Todd, his background, and where he stands on the critical issues facing our city," said Michael Sciucco, Murphy's campaign manager. "Our volunteers will remain in full force for the next two months leading up to the election. We are committed to helping Todd win the City Council seat so he can help move Beverly forward in a positive and strong direction."Murphy's top issues include continued educational excellence in Beverly and making sure the middle school project is completed, upgrades in roads, smart development to help fund the city's capital projects, increased recycling and reduced solid waste, and public safety. He is being endorsed for City Council by both former City Council President Tim Flaherty and current City Councilor Scott Dullea."I had an incredible summer getting to know Beverly's citizens and issues, and I'm ready to complete the work on the campaign trail this fall," said Murphy."I have a dedicated team of volunteers behind me and together, we will work tirelessly so that I have the chance to help shape the future of our city for generations to come. I am truly invested in Beverly, and would love the privilege of serving its residents as Councilor At-Large."Murphy, a 1993 graduate of Beverly High School, grew up in the heart of the city's downtown and now lives in North Beverly. He is a partner at Callahan Dewan & Murphy on Rantoul Street, where he focuses on criminal defense law. In addition to his defense work, he practices family law and other civil litigation.
Murphy is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law. Prior to attending law school, he spent several years in special education. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Tufts University and a Master of Education Degree in Special Education from Salem State College.
The father of two young daughters, Murphy sits on the Beverly Children's Learning Center Board of Directors.On October 2, Murphy will host a cocktail party fundraiser from 6-9 pm at the Wild Horse Cafe, 392 Cabot Street, Beverly. Cash bar and light hors d'oeuvres will be served. Suggested donation is $50 per person and $75 per couple.
