Beverly, MA -- November 2, 2013 --"Team Murphy" took to the streets of Beverly today in a final push to spread the word about Attorney Todd C. Murphy, candidate for City Councilor At-Large.
About 50 volunteers held signs in support of Murphy at high visibility spots in the city -- in front of the Cummings Center and at the intersection of Dodge and Enon Streets.
More volunteers paraded a fleet of cars and trucks decorated with "Murphy" signs, banners, and balloons throughout Beverly.
"We have worked hard to ensure that every citizen of Beverly has had a chance to learn about Todd, his background, and where he stands on the critical issues facing our city," said Michael Sciucco, Murphy's campaign manager. "In an effort to meet as many residents as possible, Todd has spent the past few months tirelessly going door-to-door, attending community events, participating in debates, hosting coffees and fundraisers, holding signs, and engaging citizens on Facebook."
Murphy's top issues include continued educational excellence in Beverly and making sure the middle school project is completed, smart development to fund the city's capital projects, upgrades in roads, increased recycling and reduced solid waste, and public safety.
He is endorsed by the Salem News, former City Council President Tim Flaherty, and current City Councilor Scott Dullea.
"I know Todd personally and professionally and deeply respect him on both levels," said Dullea. "He is the right choice for Beverly in this time of transition. I fully endorse Todd Murphy for City Councilor At-Large."
Murphy said he has enjoyed spending the past few months getting to know Beverly's citizens and most important issues.
"I'm a proud product of Beverly, and I hope voters give me the chance to help shape the future of our city for generations to come," he said.
"As a father, a business owner, and Beverly's biggest fan, I am truly invested in our amazing city, and would love nothing more than the privilege of serving its residents as Councilor At-Large."
Murphy, a 1993 graduate of Beverly High School, grew up in the heart of the city's downtown and now lives in North Beverly. He is a partner at Callahan Dewan & Murphy on Rantoul Street, where he focuses on criminal defense law. In addition to his defense work, he practices family law and other civil litigation.
Murphy is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law. Prior to attending law school, he spent several years in special education. Murphy holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Tufts University and a Master of Education Degree in Special Education from Salem State College.
The father of two young daughters, Olivia (7) and Sloane (5 months), Murphy sits on the Beverly Children's Learning Center Board of Directors.
