New Development Director at Montserrat College of Art

Experienced Artist Joins the Team!

BEVERLY -- Paul Kotakis has been named the new director of development for Montserrat College of Art. Paul comes to Montserrat after serving 11 years in many capacities in the development office at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, (SMFA) which merged with Tufts University last year. He is also an alumnus of SMFA, from where he holds a BFA, which provides him with a unique understanding of the challenges and benefits of being an art school student and the ability to share that with alumni and prospective donors.

Managing the SMFA Medici, his biggest accomplishments have been his successful oversight of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts' Art Sale and Medal Award Gala, which raised a combined gross revenue of $1.4 million, $335,000 over net goal. Gifts to the SMFA Medici and the SMFA Fund total $1.2 million annually. The SMFA art sale is the largest art sale in New England which includes nearly 4,000 works of art from more than 700 artists (students, alumni and faculty).

Paul has also been responsible for oversight of all fundraising and alumni relations programs including identifying prospects, annual fund appeals and mailings, sponsorships and the management of development office staff. He has been at the SMFA since shortly after his graduation in 2006, successfully taking on increasingly challenging roles.
