No Bail For Beverly Man Who Threatened Pregnant Woman With Gun
Prosecutors say 23-year-old Joseph Matranga has had other run-ins with his neighbors.
BEVERLY, MA — A Beverly man accused of threatening his pregnant neighbor with a gun while drunk was ordered held without bail Thursday. Prosecutors say that Joseph Matranga, 23, of 60 Rantoul Street, Apt. 309 in Beverly, had previously complained about noise from a dog walking in the woman's apartment and has had other run-ins with neighbors in the building. Matranga has pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to the Salem News, the woman said she could hear Matranga chamber a round in the gun after their confrontation on April 18. The 33-year-old woman testified at Thursday's hearing and said she is 32 weeks pregnant. She described Matranga, a U.S. Army veteran, as "aggressive, upset and angry."
