No Free, Full-Day Kindergarten In Beverly
While the school committee cut the cost by 10% for next year, proponents had wanted it offered for free.

BEVERLY, MA -- The Beverly School Committee set tuition for full-day kindergarten at $3,600 for the 2018-19 school year, down from a rate of $4,000 that had been set in January. The committee also signaled it would try to continue lowering the tuition, but many Beverly residents want full-day kindergarten to come at no cost.
"I just believe that the equal opportunity for all students to have a chance to go to kindergarten and experience that full day is just so valuable," Beverly resident Angela Gulino said at the meeting, according to the Beverly Citizen, which first reported this story. The committee was reluctant to cut tuition further, however, fearing it would lead to classroom overcrowding and cuts in other areas of the school system budget.
