North Shore Music Theatre Opens Season With 'Funny Girl'
North Shore Music Theatre will kick off the summer season with the musical "Funny Girl"

BEVERLY– North Shore Music Theatre will kick off the summer season with the musical "Funny Girl" on June 7.
The show is slated to run from June 7 until June 18, according to the NSMT website.
"Funny Girl" is a story about a girl named Fanny Price, played by Shoshana Bean, whose comedy and singing skills launch her from a Brooklyn music hall singer to eventually international fame, all while romantically involved with the gambler Nicky Arnstein, played by Bradley Dean.

Music is by Jule Styne while the lyrics are by Bob Merrill. The play is a book adaptation from Isobel Lennart's work.
Tickets are $54 to $79 per person and children save 50 percent at evening performances.

“Over the past six seasons, I have purposely started each season with a classic show that stars a fantastic leading lady,” NSMT owner and producer Bill Hanney said in a press release. “Funny Girl is a project I have wanted to do for a long time, but I needed to wait for the timing and casting to be right. Along with our producing Artistic Director Kevin P. Hill and the shows director and choreographer James Brennan, we have assembled an amazing cast led by the powerhouse talent of Shoshana Bean. These artists will bring this rarely seen musical treat to life in a way that our audiences will remember for a long time.”
The cast list is as follows:
Susan Cella (Mrs. Brice), Rick Faugno (Eddie Ryan), Brittney Morello (Emma, u/s Fanny Brice), Sandy Rosenberg (Mrs Strakosh, u/s Mrs. Brice), and James Van Treuren (Florenz Ziegfeld, Jr.)

There will be additional free events hosted by the music theatre, such as a Meet the Theatre audience discussion on June 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Jun 18 at 2 p.m. As well as Out on the North Shore, a post-show reception for the LGBT community at the Backstage Bistro on June 16 at 7:30 p.m.
