Obituary: Albert H. Laporte, WW II Veteran, Recipient of the Purple Heart

Albert H. Laporte, 90, husband of the late Pauline (Soucy) Laporte, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Ledgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his family. Born in Salem, he is the son of the late Napoleon and Corine (Tremblay) Laporte.
Albert grew up in Salem, but lived most of his life in Beverly. He is a decorated veteran of the United States Army, having served during WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Albert worked for 40 years at the General Electric Company in Lynn. He enjoyed dancing, family gatherings, inventing and home projects. Albert was a loveable person and will truly be missed.

Albert’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff on the Cove Unit at Ledgwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Beverly for their kind and compassionate care that he received at the end of his life.
He is survived by his two children: Paul Laporte of Beverly and Susan Mahoney and her husband Mike Hiss of Stowe, Vermont; one sister: Jeanne Levesque of Florida; two grandchildren: Sean Mahoney and his wife Siobhan of Groveland and Brian Mahoney of Beverly and three great grandchildren: Jack, Nora and Caitlin Mahoney. He is survived also by his cherished companion Lucille Tawa of Brookline. He is predeceased by his siblings: Arthur Laporte, Irene Morin, Yvonne Banville and Theresa Turcotte.

At the request of the family, Albert’s Funeral Services will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923.
