Ernest W. Friburg Jr., 91, beloved husband of the late Louise P. (Durgin) Friburg, died peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Chelsea Soldier’s Home in Chelsea following a long illness.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army having seen action in Normandy.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Ernest W. Sr. and Jennie (Hersey) Friburg. He was raised and educated in Beverly and was a graduate of Beverly High School, class of 1942.
Mr. Friburg had been employed for twenty eight years at the United Shoe Machine Corp in Beverly. He then went on to work at Devcon for twenty years and at Star Market for fifteen years.

A lifelong resident of Beverly, he was a member of the American Legion Post 331 of Beverly and Past Commander of the former Post 12 in Beverly.
Surviving him are two sons, Richard W. Friburg and Robert A. Friburg both of Beverly, two daughters, Diane L. Friburg of Beverly and Linda Benoit and her husband, Thomas of Worcester, a brother, Gordon Friburg and his wife, Claire of Salisbury and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Dorothy Rantz and Elaine DiPaolo.
