Obituary: Norma Elizabeth (Stiffler) Yorgy-Pfaller, She Cherished Time Spent With Her Family, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren

She enjoyed many years working at Desjardins Jewelers.

Norma Elizabeth (Stiffler) Yorgy-Pfaller, born August 29, 1923, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 22, 2015 at her home in Brooksby Village, Peabody MA.

She was the devoted wife of Colonel Bill Pfaller for 16 years. Norma had an exceptionally close relationship to her children Linda, Larry and Cheryl and their families, and also Bill’s children, Chip and James Pfaller. She cherished the time spent with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Norma was born in Altoona PA, the daughter of the late Harry N. and Ethel (Strunk) Stiffler. She was raised there, graduated from Altoona High School, and in 1946 married Lawrence R. Yorgy. They moved to Beverly in 1949, where along with raising their three children, she enjoyed many years working at Desjardins Jewelers, and Lawrence built his career as a distinguished engineer with General Electric, MIT-Draper and Lincoln Labs, and NASA until his death in 1983.

Surviving her are her husband Bill, daughter, Linda N. Anderton and husband Richard of Gloucester MA, son, Larry Yorgy Jr. and wife Karen of Boxford MA, daughter, Cheryl Sojka and husband Steve of Hudson NH, Bill’s sons, Chip Pfaller of Palm Bay, FL and James Pfaller of Boston, MA, as well as her grandchildren with their husbands, Jennifer and Mike Camp, Camrin and James Flynn, and Matthew Sojka, step-grandchildren Maddy and Ned Werner, and her great-grandsons, Jackson, Ryder, Easton, and Collin.

Norma was predeceased by her two sisters, Lois Wray and Ethel Benson, brother-in-law James Wray, grandson Ray Anderton, and her former husband Lawrence R. Yorgy.

Memorial services will be held at Brooksby Village Community Chapel in Peabody, on Wednesday, April 29 at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Raymond R.
