Obituary: Paul W. Picard, 65, Worked for U.S. Postal Service for 27 Years

Decorated U.S. Army veteran; served two tours in Vietnam, two tours in Germany and served Stateside.

Paul W. Picard, 65, beloved husband of Susan (Moynihan) Picard, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage, passed away Tuesday, January 13th at Beverly Hospital. Born in Waltham, he is the son of the late Joseph L. and Helen May (Barbour) Picard.

Paul grew up all over New England and attended Briscoe Junior High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served two tours in Vietnam, two tours in Germany and served Stateside. Paul earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He retired after 25 years of service in the Army National Guard. Paul also worked for United States Postal Service for 27 years and also worked for Sears. He loved fishing, bowling, working on antique cars and listening to the oldies. Paul was also a member of the Herman A. Spear Post 331, American Legion in Beverly. He was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle and will truly be missed.

In addition to his wife Susan, he is survived by his two children: Nicole Picard and Patrick Picard both of Beverly; seven siblings: Susan Jean Peters of Peabody, Kathryn Martha Picard and her partner David Preysner of Manchester, NH, Pattiann Hill and her husband Fred of Manchester, NH, Pennie Picard and her husband Michael McLean of Raymond, NH, Daniel Alfred Picard and his wife Terri of Atkinson, NH, Matthew Adam Picard and his wife Lis of Hillsborough, NH, and Phillip Lucien Picard and his wife Alice of Atkinson, NH; special nephew Clifford Smith of Peabody, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Tuesday, January 20th at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 18th from 2 to 5 P.M. Burial will be in Central Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Paul’s Memory to the Herman A.
