Obituary: Peter Anthony Colbert, 68, Security Guard

Grew up in Beverly and was a graduate of Beverly High School Trade School, class of 1965

PEABODY - Peter Anthony Colbert, 68, beloved husband of Judith (Straw) Colbert, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage, passed away on Sunday, January 4th at Beverly Hospital with his family by his side.

Peter grew up in Beverly and was a graduate of Beverly High School Trade School, class of 1965. He worked as a security guard for many years, starting at the United Shoe Machinery Corp in Beverly, followed by the General Electric and then for Loomis Fargo. Peter enjoyed boating and fishing, photography, working on computers and also a good meal. He loved to garden and mostly enjoyed putting around the house and spending time with his cat Carly.

In addition to his wife Judith, he is survived by three nephews: David Rogers and his wife Pam of Haverhill, Steven Rogers of Jacksonville, FL, and Kevin Rogers and his fiancé Jess Restucci of Derry, NH; seven nieces and nephews: Chris Rogers of Tucson, AZ, Katie Rogers of Haverhill, , Shannon Letro of Indiana, Shane and Samuel Rogers of Jacksonville, FL, Dylan and Sarah Rogers all of Derry, NH; two great great nieces: Kylie Begin and Esther Restucci; great aunt Josephine LeBlanc of Beverly, brother-in-law George Straw of NH and sister-in-law Lesley Straw of NH; and former brother-in-law: Richard Rogers and his wife Louise He is predeceased by his mother and step father: Esther C. (Siros) and William Gill and his sister Mary Rogers.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service 9 to 11 A.M. Burial will be in North Beverly Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice.
