Obituary: Roger Conant Hale, 61, Loved Genealogical Research

Employed for many years as a warehouse and delivery driver for Johnny Appleseed in Beverly.

Roger Conant Hale, age 61, of Beverly, passed away on Tuesday, March 3 2015 surrounded by
his family and loved ones at Salem Hospital.

Roger was born in Boston, on March 12, 1953 son of Gail R. (Robinson) Slade wife of John Slade. He was raised in Beverly and graduated from Beverly High School in 1972 then pursued his education for 3 years at the Elim Bible Institute in Lima, NY.

Prior to retiring on a disability, Roger was employed for many years as a warehouse and delivery driver for Johnny Appleseed in Beverly. Roger loved doing genealogical research and spent extensive hours researching all of his family’s ancestry which dated back to John and Priscilla Alden and Roger Conant, the founder of the City of Salem, MA. He also assisted friends in the research of their family trees, and had a love for the outdoors and would often be seen walking around Salem where he lived for many years. Roger was a member of East Gate Christian Fellowship in Salem where he loved to gather with his friends and family.

In addition to his mother and stepfather of Beverly, Roger is survived by his daughter and her husband, Kathryn E. and Christopher J. Sena of Lynn; his 2 cherished grandchildren, Eliah and Naomi Sena; his siblings and their spouses, David and Jennifer Hale Sr. of Salisbury, Miles and Amy Hale of Beverly, and Laura and Albert Desisto of Salem; his former wife, Patricia (Forrant) Hale of Lynn; his step mother, Donna Hale of Rowley; 2 half brothers, Benjamin and Matthew Hale of Rowley; a former brother-in-law, Douglas Parsons of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. Roger was also predeceased by his father Hazen G. Hale, Jr.

Roger’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made in Roger’s memory to the Joslin Diabetes Center, www.joslin.org , One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.
