Obituary: Virginia (Clayton) Bixbee McVey, Longtime Beverly Resident

Employed in the Beverly public school system, and later was a secretary in Beverly's Public Works Department.

Virginia (Clayton) Bixbee McVey, 97, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John McVey.

Born in Beverly on June 16, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Pettipas and Hazel (Clayton). She was educated in the Beverly public schools and was a lifelong resident of Beverly.

Ginny was employed in the Beverly public school system and retired as the secretary in the public works department after over thirty years of combined service to the City of Beverly.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Bixbee Laroe and her husband, Frank of Boxford; a son: Bradford Bixbee of Beverly; five grandchildren, Christopher Laroe, Brian, Michael and Emma Bixbee and Nicole Bixbee. She was also predeceased by her son, Clayton Bixbee, grandson, Gifford Laroe and her former spouses, Harry Bixbee and Jack Whitaker.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, March 6th in the Vittori-Rocci Post, 143 Brimbal Ave., Beverly from 5 - 9 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be privately held in Central Cemetery, Beverly. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
