Obituary: Walter Kardenetz, Plant Supervisor for Over 30 Years; Avid Square Dancer
Served in the U.S. Navy in WW II in the European, African and Middle East campaigns

Walter Kardenetz, 90, of Beverly, died Sunday evening at Beverly Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Alice Marie (Muise) Kardenetz. He was born in Peabody on May 24, 1924, the son of the late Samuel and Mary (Deduck) Kardenetz and was raised in Peabody where he attended Peabody High School and was the captain of the 1943 Football Team. He entered the US Navy in January, 1943 and served for three years in WW II in the European, African and Middle East campaigns prior to his discharge in 1946. He then attended Syracuse University and later Burdette College. He had also served with the US Marine Corps.
Walter had been a plant supervisor with the Norton and NRC and later the Bayer Co of Newton, MA for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1986. He and his wife were avid square dancers for many years with the shin-diggers and the Riversiders groups. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish and was an avid camper taking his family camping throughout the Northeast United States and Canada. He also enjoyed daily walks along the shores of Beverly waterfront, greeting all passers by.

He is survived by his four children, Martin and his wife Bethann Kardenetz of Peabody, Scott and his wife Anne Kardenetz of Nashville, TN, Heidi Kardenetz of Beverly and Wendy and her husband Terry Daigle of Lynn, 10grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late George Kardenetz and the late Peter Kardenetz.
A Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St, Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Peabody at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
