Organizers Cancel Beverly Comic Con For 2019

Organizers suggested the show outgrew its venue at the Porter Mill building but offers hope that it could return to another space.

BEVERLY, MA -- Beverly Comic Con, which has grown in popularity since its inception five years ago, may have gotten too popular. In a Facebook message last week, organizers Adam Miller, Andrew Houle, John Cardinal and Michael Crockett suggested that the show had outgrown the space it had been using the Porter Mill building on Rantoul Street, forcing them to cancel it at least for 2019. That building has seen increased occupancy, including the opening of a brew pub on the first floor in January.

"Unfortunately, with that growth comes change," the Facebook message said. "Over the past few years, we’ve squeezed and stuffed as much awesome as we can into every available inch of the [Porter Mill] building. And while we have grown, the building has changed a lot as well."

The message said organizers are looking at options for a return of the show in the future, but opted to cancel the 2019 show rather than rush a solution. "We have been discussing this decision for quite some time and simply did not want to rush into any new plans for the show going forward," organizers said.
