Panther Found, Safe and Sound

A statue depicting the Beverly High School mascot was swiped by rival Witches on Sunday afternoon.

The panther statue swiped from Beverly High School on Sunday night was returned safe and sound within an hour.

Beverly Police Department School Resource Officer Edward Hathon said after a brief investigation - and with the help of Beverly High School staff - he determined the theft of the statue was a class prank. The panther – the mascot of Beverly High School - typically sits in the foyer near the cafeteria.

“The Salem High School students involved were identified and returned the panther home unscathed within an hour of it being taken,” Hathon said in a text message to Beverly Patch’s sister website, Salem Patch.
