People's United Bank Donates $11,250 to Montserrat College of Art

Funding will be provided to new 3D printing labs

People’s United Community Foundation of Eastern Massachusetts, the charitable arm of People’s United Bank (Massachusetts), recently joined the Montserrat College of Art and donated $11,250 towards 3D printing labs for the school’s curriculum.

Montserrat College of Art is an independent institution of art, providing an intensive visual arts education for students, enabling them to sustain a lifelong involvement in art and design. The acquisition, installation and software startup of the 3D printing areas are critical for attracting students and new faculty, the printing labs are key tools in educating and preparing alumni for post-graduate success.

“3-D Printing is part of the future for education,” said Patrick Sullivan, President of People’s United Bank. “We are excited to help add this addition to the Montserrat campus, and help the students continue to create and produce extraordinary artwork.”

People’s United Community Foundation of Eastern Massachusetts was formed to help support programs and activities that enhance the quality of life for citizens in the communities that People’s United Bank serves. People’s United Bank, founded in 1842 and serving customers from New York to Maine through a network of more than 400 branches, is the largest independent bank headquartered in New England. The Foundation places special emphasis on programs designed to promote economic self-sufficiency, education and improved conditions for low-income families and neighborhoods. The funding priorities of the Foundation include community development, youth development, and affordable housing.

In total, the People’s United Community Foundation of Eastern Massachusetts awarded $156,750 in grants to 33 nonprofits in eastern Massachusetts so far this year. All of the organizations that received grants provide services related to basic needs, affordable housing, social and health services, education, and arts and culture.

“People’s United Community Foundation of Eastern Massachusetts is pleased to carry on its support of the many nonprofits in Eastern Massachusetts that continue to meet the needs of our communities,” said Kevin Noyes, Vice President of Community Development for People’s United Bank.
