Police: Drunk Driving Arrest, 5th Offense; Irate Customer Pumped $44-Worth of Gas, But His Credit Card Was Charged $104; Nursing Assistant Took IV Bags and Equipment From Hospital

Tuesday, May 19
At 4:10 p.m., Click it or Ticket traffic enforcement grant on Cabot Street. A dozen motor vehicle stops: four citations issued, and eight verbal warnings given.
At 4:14 p.m., motor vehicle accident on Cherry Hill Drive. Two vehicle accident in parking lot.

At 4:29 p.m., motor vehicle stop on School Street in area of Cox Street. Citation for operating a moped after a revoked license.
At 5:07 p.m., irate customer on Dodge Street. Customer pumped $44-worth of gas, but his credit card was charged $104. He was told he could not be reimbursed out of the cash register. The cashier explained that the policy was to reimburse overcharges after 48 hours. The customer reportedly pounded his fist on the counter, and demanded his refund. The man had calmed down, and apologized. He was satisfied when the store manager agreed to meet with him the next morning.

At 6:27 p.m., motor vehicle stop on Herrick Street and Thompson Road. Small amount of amount marijuana in a glass pipe. Driver had three one-liter bags of IV fluids, IV catheters, and IV start-up kits concealed in a backpack. He is a nursing assistant at Burlington Lahey, but took these items without proper authorization. The items were seized and turned over to the hospital liaison officer. Citation issued.
UPDATED: At 7:20 p.m., motor vehicle accident with injuries on Colon Street. David A. Johnson, 53, of Beverly, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor, 5th offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and failure to use care. When the arrested party turned from the street into his driveway, he struck the boat and boat trailer, which then pushed back into the shed. He also struck a parked car which in turn was pushed into the dental office building. The arrested party was transported to the hospital to be medically cleared before being taken into custody. No other injuries.
At 9:13 p.m., car into a utility pole on Hart Street. Accident with property damage.
Wednesday, May 20
At 12:31 a.m., suspicious person in car sales lot on Cabot Street and Pleasant Street.
At 10:52 a.m., lost rings on Magnolia Street.
At 12:19 p.m., neighbor dispute on Greene Street.Ongoing dispute.
At 2:03 p.m., motor vehicle stop on Elliott Street. Vehicle stopped behind the Stop and Shop building; driver threw his McDonald’s trash out of the driver’s-side window towards the Dumpster. Officer spoke to him, and gave him a verbal warning. Man picked up all of his trash.
