Police: Motorist Turned Over Less Than an Ounce of Marijuana, Cited For Several Violations; Party Advised to Call Private Wildlife Trapper For Raccoon; Suspicious Package

Wednesday, April 8

At 4:06 p.m., suspicious mail on Putnam Street. Suspicious package.

At 5:14 p.m., raccoon on back porch on Arthur Street. Racoon took up residency on third-floor back porch. Animal control officer determined that the animal was not sick. The raccoon retreated to the roof. Party was advised to call a private wildlife trapper to rectify the situation.

At 6:37 p.m., assist other department on Stone Street. Possible condos fire.

At 7:08 p.m., woman walked out of the hospital on Rantoul Street with an IV in her arm. Woman, who was in good health, removed the line on her own and bandaged it up.

Thursday, April 9

At 1:04 a.m., noise complaint on Rantoul Street. Loud group in an apartment; they were advised to keep the noise down.

At 10:21 a.m., larceny on Tozer Road. Misplaced/stolen Kindle.

At 10:52 a.m., possible oil spill investigated on Iverson Road and Paramatta Road. Small amount of hydraulic fluid, not a hazard.

At 10:57 motor vehicle stop on Park Street and Riverside Avenue. Motorist turned west from Pond Street south to Rantoul and almost caused an accident. Officer stopped vehicle on Riverside Avenue, and immediately noticed the smell of marijuana. Less than one gram handed over by driver. Party cited for failure to use care, no seatbelt and impeded operation (cellphone.)

At 12:37 p.m., suspicious activity on Porter Street. Men with ladders on roof authorized to be up there by homeowner.

At 1:05 p.m., larceny of several items from Beverly Bootstraps Thrift Store. Shoplifter stole several items.
