Police: Possible Roof Collapse, Man in Snowbank Tries to Prevent DPW From Snow Removal, Five-Vehicle Accident

Wednesday, March 4

At 4:49 p.m., city ordinance violation on Park Street in area of Railroad Avenue. Three vehicles towed. parked for several weeks without moving, Additional ordinance violations to be mailed to vehicle owners.

At 7:36 p.m. motor vehicle stop on Elliott Street and Galloupe Avenue. Verbal warning given for failure to make a right turn in a marked lane for right hand turns only.

At 8:11 p.m., identity fraud reported on Lake Shore Drive.

At 9:37 p.m., parking enforcement on Franklin Street. Handicapped parking violation; vehicle tagged. Vehicle parked in handicapped parking space. No placard visible on the dashboard or hanging from the mirror.

At 9:51 p.m., assist Fire Department on Rantoul Street. National Grid investigated possible gas leak.

Thursday, March 5

At 12:04 a.m., report of loud music on Rantoul Street. Man is hard of hearing. Advised him to try wireless headphones.

At 1:43 a.m., assist Fire Department on Odell Street.

At 4:53 a.m., disturbance on Rantoul Street. DPW was doing snow removal at the corner of Edwards and Rantoul streets. A man was standing in the snowbank preventing the DPW from doing their work. The snowbank was high and causing a hazard. Officer explained that the city had to remove the snow, and if he did not move, her would be arrested. The man stormed off without further incident.

At 7:09 a.m., possible roof collapse on Cole Street. Homeowners were evacuated. The building inspector said the house is a hazard and no one will be allowed back into the building until further notice.

At 8:21 a.m., motor vehicle accident with property damage on River Street. Five-vehicle accident. No injuries.

At 2:23 p.m., accident with property damage on Rantoul Street.
