Police: Pot Down the Drain; Keep Your License Handy

Tuesday, August 18

At 4:10 p.m., there was a minor motor vehicle accident on Cabot Street.

At 5:29 p.m. police stopped a vehicle for a defective brake light. Neither the driver nor the passenger were able to immediately find a license or ID. The driver said he was in Beverly to visit an “online friend.” After the driver was placed in handcuffs and the tow truck came for the vehicle, a paper license was located in the vehicle and the driver was uncuffed.

At 8:17 p.m., suspicious motor vehicle activity was reported on Ocean Street. When police arrived, they found a small amount of marijuana dumped in a drain. The parties were advised.

At 4:21 a.m., a wire was reported down on Chipman Road.

At 10:45 a.m., there was a motor vehicle hit and run with property damage on Elliot Street.

At 12:27 p.m., there was a small brush fire on Gage Street. Police and fire officials spoke with several kids believed to be involved with the fire. They all blamed each other for the fire. Their parents were spoken to.
