Curated by Assistant Curator Pam Campanaro this pop-up focuses on the intersection between contemporary art and sports. New Craft Artists in Action (NCAA) is a craftivist project that addresses public space, diversity, collaboration, feminism, and interdisciplinary learning. For Pop-up, NCAA will turn the gallery interior into an track and field facility; equipped with faux blacktop and astroturf. During weeklong public events, audience members will be participatory “athletes”, invited to knit and crochet to build proactive, inclusive relationships between artists, athletes and neighbors. Participating NCAA Members: Maria Molteni, Team Captain (Boston, MA), Andrea Sherrill Evans, Knitting Guru and Instructor (Boston, MA) and Taylor McVay, Crochet Historian and Instructor (Boston, MA).

Montserrat Gallery’s Pop-Ups is a series of “pop-up” exhibitions, a short term event format that has gained in popularity in recent years. Designed to bring people together and known for their energetic atmosphere. Every week features a new theme and a range of related events and a closing reception.
