Salem Man Charged In Beverly Meth Trafficking Bust: Police

Beverly police said the man was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, oxy, methamphetamine and marijuana.

BEVERLY, MA — A Salem man is facing methamphetamine trafficking, as well as cocaine, oxycodone and marijuana possession with intent to distribute charges, following a drug bust Wednesday night, according to Beverly police.

Police said members of the Drug Control Unit investigating drug sales in the city determined that a drug deal was set to place in the city involving the driver of a silver Acura MDX on Wednesday. A car matching that description was spotted driving up Chestnut Street from Rantoul Street and police conducted a stop.

Police said the driver, Michael Lee Jones, 42, was ordered out of the car and an ensuing search recovered "oxycodone pills, several baggies of cocaine, three baggies of marijuana, approximately 97 grams of methamphetamine and $2,675 in cash."

Police said Jones was expected to be arraigned in Salem District Court on Thursday.
