Save the Date: Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day
Proof of residency is required. No commercial waste will be accepted.

Beverly and Salem residents will be able to dispose of their household hazardous waste at an upcoming city-sponsored collection organized by the Beverly Board of Health.
To facilitate accessibility, the cities of Beverly and Salem have entered into a reciprocity agreement allowing each city’s residents to participate in either community’s household hazardous collection event.
The collection event will be held from 8 a.m., to noon on Saturday, April 25 at the Beverly High School parking lot (enter from Sohier Rd) rain or shine.

The $20 co-pay will remain in effect this year. The co-pay helps the city offset the costs associated with this event. The collection allows residents to dispose of household hazardous materials in an environmentally responsible manner.
Proof of residency is required. No commercial waste will be accepted.
The following is a summary of ACCEPTABLE items residents can dispose of at the event:

Oil-based paints, varnishes, stains, solvents, photodetails): oil-based paints, varnishes, stains, solvents, photo chemicals, pool chemicals, insecticides, herbicides, pesticides, antifreeze, transmission fluid, car batteries, propane tanks, and fluorescent bulbs.
Tires will be accepted by a separate vendor at an additional cost of $2 each for 17 inches or less. Larger tires will be accepted at a higher cost. Tires may be on or off the rims.
The following is a summary of UNACCEPTABLE items that cannot be disposed:
Latex paint (pop lid, dry and throw away), waste oil (Beverly residents can drop off at the DPS facility on Park St during business hours), compressed gas cylinders, ammunition, explosives, prescription medication, syringes, biological waste, radioactive waste, smoke detectors, asbestos, appliances/televisions/computer monitors and electronics.
Beverly residents: Electronics Collection Event will be held on May 2 at the high school.
To ensure safety, please adhere to the following handling procedures: tighten caps and lids leaving materials in original labeled containers in sturdy upright boxes, avoid spills and do not place in garbage bags, NEVER MIX CHEMICALS, and never smoke while handling hazardous materials.
