Scanlon Endorses in Mayor's Race With 5 Weeks To Go

Mayor Bill Scanlon is the longest serving mayor in Bevelrly's history and will not seek reelection.

Outgoing Mayor Bill Scanlon threw his political weight behind mayoral candidate Wes Slate on Tuesday.

Scanlon, the longest serving mayor in Beverly's history, made the announcement on the lawn outside City Hall.

The endorsement came five week's ahead of the city's general election on Nov. 5, where Slate will face Mike Cahill in the mayor's race.

Slate is a three-term City Councilor from Ward 2. Cahill is a former state representative and City Council president.
