Senior Day and 5K Highlight Homecoming Festivities

One of the oldest “running” events at Homecoming takes place tonight.

The 45th annual Yankee 5K road race begins at 6:30 p.m. at Lynch Park.

For younger athletes, the Kids Fun Run takes place at 5:45 p.m.

Earlier in the day, the Senior Day in the Park takes place at Lynch Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It is open to those 60 and older and is $6 for Beverly residents and $9 for non-residents.

There will be concerts by Julie Dougherty and Charlie Dawson and the Travelers Three, a BBQ Chicken Lunch, the Senior of the Year Award, an Ice Cream Social, raffles and prizes, and more.

Other events during the day include a concert on the Beverly Common at 6 p.m., as well as the baked bean contest at 39 Bow Street at 6 p.m.
