A Smashingly Good Time Set For Beverly's New Entry Farm
Residents can rid themselves of their Halloween hallmarks with the help of a "pumpkin guillotine" and other destructive delights.

BEVERLY, MA — A full-size working trebuchet, two enormous smash boards and a "pumpkin guillotine" are among the ways Beverly residents will be able to blast their Halloween pumpkins into bits next weekend.
The second Great Pumpkin Smash will be on Nov. 6 at New Entry Farm at 733 Cabot Street where a thousand folks or more will crush their pumpkins to crumbles between 1 and 4 p.m.
Green Beverly and the New Entry Sustainable Farming Project are hosting the event to promote the value and importance of composting as they hurl spent pumpkins into a giant compost pile with the custom-designed trebuchet.
