“The selection of a new Superintendent of Schools is a major decision for our city.” St. Hilaire said.  “With the new Middle School project and the pressures of increasing enrollment, the next Superintendent will play a lead role in shaping the future of Beverly schools for years to come.”

St. Hilaire recently submitted an application to School Committee President Maria Decker to be considered as part of the Superintendent Search Committee that is being formed to select the new Superintendent of Schools in Beverly.

The committee will be made up of 9 members including three members of the School Committee (President Maria Decker, Vice President Paul Manzo and Mayor Bill Scanlon) as well as two parents of current students (one with elementary school aged children and one with secondary school aged children), one school district administrator, two staff members (one from the elementary level and one from the secondary level), as well as one member of the general public who does not have children in the schools.

“I grew up in Beverly and attended Beverly’s public schools and I believe strongly that providing a quality education is among the most important core duties of our local government.”   St. Hilaire said. “I am interested in serving on the Search Committee because I am deeply invested in ensuring continued excellence in our schools and because I believe my background and experience will benefit the committee and will help make sure the right person is selected for the job.”

Interim Superintendent Albert Argenziano, who has been serving on a part-time basis since Superintendent Marie Galinski’s retirement in June is helping lead the search and will conduct initial interviews to narrow the list of candidates.  The search committee will then interview that group of candidates and will select the finalists for the School Committee to interview.  The application deadline for those interested in serving on the Search Committee is 3:00pm on September 2nd.
