State Investigating Pill Theft At Beverly Hospital
The theft of 18,000 pills may be among the biggest ever in the United States.

BEVERLY, MA -- The Massachusetts of Department of Public Health is investigating what authorities believe to be the theft of 18,000 pills from the hospital. If confirmed, it would rank among the biggest pill thefts from a hospital in U.S. history. Lisa R. Tillman, 49, of Salem, was released on $10,000 bail last week after being arraigned on a charge of larceny of a controlled substance.
While Tillman pleaded not guilty, she reportedly told police she took the pills for personal use and flushed the ones she did not use down the toilet. Tillman, a pharmacy technician at the hospital, told police she did not steal any of the stolen pills, according to the Salem News, which first reported this story.
