State Police Identify Driver Killed In Wenham/Beverly Route 128 Crash

State Police said the Lynn man was pronounced dead at Beverly Hospital.

BEVERLY, MA — State Police identified the 23-year-old driver killed in a rollover crash on Route 128 North near the Beverly/Wenham line on Wednesday.

State Police said the driver was Durjoy Singh Protik of Lynn.

Essex DA Paul Tucker said the man's 2015 Honda Accord was involved in the crash at about 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

The DA's Office confirmed that the 23-year-old man was pronounced dead at Beverly Hospital after Wenham and Beverly fire crews worked to extricate him from being trapped in the crashed car near Grapevine Road.

Wenham Deputy Fire Chief Jeffrey Baxter and Wenham police were the first to arrive and found the driver of the car trapped. Deputy Baxter called for Beverly fire to respond with hydraulic extrication tools to help the driver and crews were able to free the man.

The driver was then taken by Beauport Ambulance Paramedics to Beverly Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Northbound traffic on Route 128 in Wenham was diverted off the highway during the Wednesday afternoon commute following the crash.
