Step into Action Virtual Walkathon for Beverly Bootstraps

September is Hunger Action Month and Beverly Bootstraps invites you to Step into Action!

What is a virtual walkathon you may ask? Let’s say you really want to help support Beverly Bootstraps and prevent hunger for Hunger Action Month, but the fall is a really busy time and your weekends are totally booked. But you already exercise all the time or you want to get started on a new program. Then Beverly Bootstraps’ Step into Action virtual walkathon is your perfect solution.

There are 55,990 people living in Essex County that are Food Insecure, not to mention that 12.1% of the children living in Essex County are food insecure. That means they don’t always have enough food for an active, healthy life and will often need to make trade-offs between important basic needs, such as paying for housing or medical bills or purchasing healthy food. Beverly Bootstraps provides food assistance to local struggling families through their Food Pantry and many other food programs.

You can help raise funds to prevent hunger by walking, running or riding at your own pace and on your own schedule. Set your goal, then log your steps into your page of the walkathon website right from your Fitbit (or manually), to keep track of your progress. Your supporters can watch you reach your goal or you can challenge a friend and see who’s done the most miles.
