Montserrat College of Art’s Summer 2015 Immersive Program is hosting a workshop on Painting the Still Life and More. In this workshop students will explore the fundamentals of oil painting, working directly from still life. In addition these methods will be explored by working outside directly from the nearby landscape with impromptu plein-air oil sketching throughout the week. Emphasis will be placed on various methods to building a painted surface as well as develop the student’s observational skills and handling of their materials. Color mixing, composition, edge, shape, form and other technical aspects will be areas covered in the workshop. Both direct and indirect methods of painting will be explored. Demonstrations given by the instructor will accompany each painting problem.
