Montserrat College of Art’s Summer 2015 Immersive Program is hosting a workshop on Solarplate Etching. Solarplate Etching is an exciting, spontaneous, simple method of making impressions with alternative and safer practices. The method utilizes UV light and ordinary tap water instead of traditional grounds and acids, and uses a light-sensitized polymer printing plate. Artists may draw, paint, photograph or do digital manipulations on film, glass or mylar, or paint directly on the Solarplate. We will produce several 8x10 inch images, and may have the option to work larger during this enthusiastic workshop. Printmaking experience preferred but not essential.
