T's New Year's Schedule Includes Free Rides After 8 p.m.

In anticipation of Boston's annual First Night events, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has released its schedule for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. 

There will be no fares charged after 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve.

Below is the planned schedule for subway, commuter rail, bus, ferry and The RIDE service, according to www.mbta.com/events.

New Year's Eve: Tuesday, Dec. 31

Subway

• The Green, Orange and Blue Lines will operate a modified weekday schedule with additional trains operating at rush hour levels of service throughout the evening from 3 p.m. until about 2 a.m.

• The Newburyport/Rockport Line will operate a modified weekday schedule with additional service provided. An additional train from North Station, ending at Beverly Depot, will depart Boston at 12:10 a.m. The train that usually leaves North Station at 12:20 a.m. will be bumped back to 1 a.m. and runs to Rockport, serving stops in Beverly that include Beverly Depot, Montserrat and Beverly Farms. The final train of the night headed to Beverly leaves North Station at 2 a.m. It will be headed to Rockport, but there will be a connection at Beverly Depot to serve the Newburyport line, including North Beverly station. 

Busses 

Ferry Service

• F4 - Charlestown Service will operate a regular weekday schedule.

The Ride

The RIDE will operate a regular weekday schedule with extended hours until 2:30 a.m. Contact your RIDE contractor at the numbers below for details regarding New Year's Day service information.

New Year's Day: Wednesday, Jan. 1

Subway

• The Blue, Green, Orange and Red Lines will operate a Sunday schedule.

Commuter Rail

• The Newburyport/Rockport Line will operate a Sunday schedule.

Busses

Buses will operate a Sunday schedule. This means that Route 451 in Beverly will not operate.

Ferry Service

• F4 - Charlestown Service will not operate.
