Ward 1 Field Down to Two for November Election

The slate of candidates to become the next Ward 1 City Councilor was winnowed down from four to two on Tuesday.

David Lang and Michael Rotondo advanced Tuesday to November's general election, where voters will select a new Ward 1 City Councilor.

Lang topped the ticket with 384 votes and Rotondo grabbed 328 votes.

Eliminated in Tuesday's preliminary election was Susan Woods Powell with 191 votes, Tim Rubchinuk with 67 votes and Daniel Fishman with 46 votes.

Lang and Rotondo will now face each other in the Nov. 5 general election, with the winner becoming the next Ward 1 City Councilor. The winner will replace Maureen Troubetaris, who is retiring after 20 years on the council.
