Watch A Time-Lapse Photo Of Renovations At The Cabot
It will take you less than five minutes to watch workers replace 486 seats that were originally installed when the theater opened in 1920.
BEVERLY, MA -- The Cabot in Beverly reopened this month after being closed for the entire month of January for a massive renovation of its balcony. The renovation included replacing all 484 seats that had been installed when the theater opened in 1920. The wider, more comfortable seats are only a portion of $6 million in renovations at the Cabot in recent years.
Danvers-based photographer Lauren Poussard documented the renovations at the theater and put them into a time-lapse photo that condenses the month-long project into a 4:30 video. You can watch the video above.
"The Cabot is one of only about 250 similar theaters that still exist out of an estimated 20,000 theaters built in the 1920s, and we’re very conscious of that as we undergo these renovations," said Casey Soward, Executive Director of The Cabot. "Our aim is to enhance the live experiences we offer here and evolve The Cabot’s natural beauty."
