1 Arrested As Red Sox Fans Celebrate World Series Victory
For the most part thousands celebrated peacefully, said Police Commissioner William Gross. Now the focus is set for the victory parade Wed.

BOSTON — With Red Sox "damage done" in LA, Boston fans poured out into the streets in Kenmore Square and then headed to the Boston Common to celebrate the Red Sox World Series victory over the Dodgers, climbing structures and dancing and cheering along the way. Police upped security, shut down Kenmore Square and asked fans ahead of time to "behave."
It seemed to have worked. The mayor and Boston Police said they only made one arrest on Boston Common.
"We've been here before. Thousands of people, except for one individual, got the message," said Boston Police Commissioner William Gross during a press conference.

Around 12: 15 a.m. Monday morning officers said they saw a man climbing a light pole on the Boston Common and then punch the light fixture multiple times, causing the plastic lens to shatter. After asking the man to get down, police arrested Shawn Lindsay, 22, of Connecticut and charged him with malicious destruction of property. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
Gross stressed that was an exception. Most people stuck to the sidewalks, he said.

"There were a lot of high fives," said Gross.
The Red Sox beat the Dodgers, 5-1, in Los Angles to claim the franchise’s ninth World Series title. Now talk is turning to the parade Wednesday and keeping that calm, too.
