2 Mile Back Up On Mass Pike Near Boston: State Police
They told us it would be bad. It's bad.

BOSTON, MA — They weren't kidding: Today the Mass Pike was reduced to two lanes at the Allston interchange to Boston as crews work on the Commonwealth Avenue bridge. The lane restrictions meant a 2 mile back up on Rt. 90 eastbound and a 1 mile back up westbound in the area.
Hope you have a good podcast.
MassDOT announced that today, I-90 will have two lanes of travel in each direction until 7 p.m., after which time I-90 eastbound will be reduced to just one lane of travel through 5 a.m., Wednesday, August 1.

“Members of the public should continue to heed our warning and avoid the local area, as although highways such as I-90 have experienced lower traffic volumes, we have still seen increased travel times at various points throughout the day,” said Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver. “This major infrastructure project has been planned for several years, and we appreciate members of the public making smart decisions, limiting travel if they can, considering public transit, and taking alternate routes to help minimize delays.”
Crews today are continuing to place steel beams on the first and second spans and work on the concrete backwalls. This evening, crews will begin setting precast concrete deck panels on the new steel beams and securing these panels in place.

And if you're thinking of scooting up through Watertown to get around it all? Think again:
This comes after an oil leak in Watertown prompted road closures there on Main Street. An underground Eversource pipe cracked, and crews worked last night to contain it. Now there's a huge hole in the middle of Main Street near Watertown Square. Which is closed from the square to Waverly Avenue.
"This is one big mess we got going on here," Watertown Police Chief Michael Lawn told reporters.
#MAtraffic Rte 90 @ Mass Ave in #Boston, there is currently a 2 mile backup on Rte 90 E/B and 1 mile backup W/B in that area due to lane restrictions.
