Boston Fire: 3-Alarm Blaze Causes $1M In Damages

Firefighters used foam to quell the blaze in Mattapan Tuesday morning.

BOSTON, MA – A three-alarm fire at a Boston industrial laundromat Tuesday morning was contained using foam, the Boston Fire Department said. The blaze began around 4:40 a.m. at Blue Hill Avenue and Woodrow Street in Mattapan and was quickly upgraded to three alarms.

Firefighters gained access through a roll-up garage in an auto body shop in the mixed-use building. The cinder block, windowless building is one story.

Crews quelled the fire using foam and poured water in the building from the outside. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials estimate the blaze resulted in about $1 million in damages. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
