BOSTON, MA — World Cup 2026 kicks off June 11 IN Mexico City and arrives in Boston two days later. Here are five things to know for when the beautiful game comes to Beantown.
1. New Name For Old Stadium
Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots (and others), will be known as Boston Stadium during the World Cup, even though it is in Foxborough. Not that it matters, as the temporary name has nothing to do with geography and everything to do with FIFA's branding policies.
2. The Countries Coming To Boston
Group play, from June 13 through June 26, features showdowns between Norway and Iraq, Scotland and Morocco, England and Ghana, and Norway and France. Boston will also host a Round of 32 game June 29 and a quarter-final July 9.
