Accused Off-Road Bike, ATV Riders From I-93 Chaos Due In Court

Police say a gang of 25-35 off-road bike and ATV riders drove down I-93 South in a dangerous and erratic manner.

BOSTON, MA — Several of the alleged drivers in what turned into a free for all on Interstate 93 are due in court this week.

State Police attempted to stop several off-road bike and ATV riders on the Southeast Expressway in Boston Saturday night. Police say the members of the group were operating their vehicles in an "erratic and dangerous manner" near exit 18 on I-93.

There were 25-35 people in the group according to estimates. Video taken by a rider at the scene shows several of the bikes trying to escape the police-surrounded area by any means possible. a 28-year-old Randolph man was shot by a Trooper and suffered a non-life threatening injury. The man was taken to Boston Medical Center.

Five suspects were arrested and charged with various offenses. They have been transported to area barracks for booking and are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court Monday, according to the Boston Herald.

The two suspects who were transported to the hospital are also expected to be charged.

About 20 bikes and ATVs were seized by state police.

The incident remains under police investigation.
