3 Women Arrested As A Result Of Boston Shoplifting Investigation

BOSTON, MA — Three women are facing charges after Boston Police recovered more than $2,200 worth of stolen merchandise Tuesday during an ongoing shoplifting initiative on Newbury Street.

Janiya Nunes, 18, of South Boston; Kayla McDaniel, 19, of Dorchester; and Jahmyia Ennis-Fonville, 20, of Dorchester, were arrested at approximately 5 p.m. after officers were told that three women inside the Alo store were concealing merchandise.

Officers obtained a photo of the three suspects and later saw them walking on Newbury Street toward Berkeley Street. Police stopped the group, and one of the women reportedly became uncooperative and began screaming at officers.

The three women were placed in handcuffs, and officers reportedly recovered multiple items with tags still attached from Alo, Princess Polly, Victoria's Secret, Lululemon and Dick's Sporting Goods. Police said the merchandise was valued at $2,260.07 and was returned to the stores.

Nunes is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of larceny under $1,200, shoplifting by asportation and conspiracy, while McDaniel faces charges of shoplifting by asportation and conspiracy.

Ennis-Fonville is expected to be arraigned on charges of larceny under $1,200, shoplifting by asportation and receiving a stolen credit card. She also had five active warrants on charges of larceny over $1,200, larceny of a motor vehicle, larceny from a building, receiving stolen property, and shoplifting by asportation.
