A pat-down resulted in a dangerous find for police.

BOSTON, MA — A man is facing multiple firearm charges after officers recovered a loaded handgun Saturday afternoon during a stop in Dorchester, the Boston Police Department announced.

Kanell Hogan, 20, was arrested at approximately 4:20 p.m. near Blue Hill Avenue and Glenway Street after officers saw him while patrolling Blue Hill Avenue between Wales Street and Geneva Avenue. Police said Hogan was wearing a black and gray camouflage mask, a large flag draped around his back, and a fanny pack underneath the flag.

Officers approached Hogan and attempted to speak with him before he reportedly turned his body away from police and stepped in the opposite direction. Officers conducted a pat-down and allegedly felt an L-shaped object inside Hogan's fanny pack.

Police opened the fanny pack and reportedly found a firearm inside. The gun was determined to be a .40-caliber Glock 27 loaded with 14 rounds of ammunition, according to police.

Hogan was taken into custody and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession of a large-capacity firearm.
